McKinsey & Company - Middle East Office First Round Interview

Dear Sir/Madam,

I hope this message finds you well.

I completed the McKinsey Solve assessment three weeks ago, but I have not yet received any update regarding the status of my application. I wanted to kindly inquire if it is typical for the evaluation process to take more than three weeks, and whether I may expect to hear back soon regarding shortlisting for the First Round Interview.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the progress in the application process with McKinsey thus far!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, unfortunately, there is no defined timeline for when you will hear back after any step.
  • Moreover, while you can certainly follow up with the recruiter, doing so will not provide you with additional information or expedite the process. Instead, I would strongly advise you to keep focusing on further case study and personal fit preparation.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming McKinsey interviews, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi, no fixed time on responses. I’ve seen different timelines from different people, even within the same offices.

What is sure is that you will receive an update. Stay ready for interviews 🤝

Hi there,

The wait can be frustrating, but it often takes a bit longer.

It's ok to politely follow up with your recruiting contact if you feel the need to.

However, I would expect that you will hear back in the next couple of weeks.

Goof luck.

Hi there,

Yes, this happens rather often.

I'd say most candidates find out about the outcome of Solve in under 2 weeks, but I've heard of plenty as well that had to wait 3 weeks or longer.

If you go past the one month mark, follow up with a polite email to HR.

Hope you'll get good news.

Best,
Cristian

Hey there :)

Three weeks is on the longer side, but not unusual for the Middle East office—it can take some time due to volume and coordination. If you haven’t already, a polite follow-up email to HR is totally fine. You can just express continued interest and ask if there’s an update on your application status.

Let me know if you want help wording the message!

Best,
Alessa :)
