LGBTQ+ on-line webinar on CV

Hello, in the fall, I attended the BCG PROUD webinar based on CV & CL screening and my application into the program.

At this point, I am applying to various consulting firms, and under the section “Achievements & Events attended,” I would like to mention this one, however, I am not sure whether this is suitable as it was a BCG event (and even just a webinar).

Would you please help me with this one ?

Thank you

Hi there,

Generally, I advise my clients during a resume review to not add any event participation to their resume unless it is linked to a real achievement. (even if it is a very exclusive event).

For instance, if it was an event that was hard to get into, I would not add it. However, for example, if the event included a case competition where your team ranked well (a real achievement) I would add it.

I would also refrain from adding an event with firm X to an application with firm Y. They do not care about what competitor interactions you had.

All the best with your prep and applications!

Cheers,

Florian

The CV should be a synthesis of your impact.

Participating at a webminar doens't say much about what you acheived. However, if you don't have much else to put on your CV, you should indeed consider adding it, especially because it shows you've had other touchpoints with the consulting interviews.

Hi there,

This was an open event, yes? An informational one?

If so, I personally would not - this is more for workshops/conferences, certificates, etc.

Hey!

Attending a webinar is not an achievement per se.

If it were an extended educational course, then yes, you could put it on your CV.

Hope this helps,

Nick
