It depends, of course, but generally this just means that you ran out of time. This could be because you rambled - or it could be because the interviewer lost track of time and didn't guide you through the case at a sufficiently thorough pace, it really depends. I would reflect on the overall dynamics of the interview before concluding that this was a good thing or a bad thing - did you feel like you established a connection with the interviewer? Was the case/behavioral discussion flowing? And so on.

Or, did the interviewer having to run to another meeting (likely client meeting) and just didn't have time to have a full session?

If the former, yes, that's bad. If the latter, don't sweat it!

It’s it impossible to say without more details. It may be a sign you spent too much time in one particular area but there could be other reasons as well.

It is not possible to say without more details:

• Did you run over the time limit?
• Were you going completely in the wrong direction and the interviewer decided that it is not reprievable?
• Were you going in the bloody right direction and the interviewer made his judgment
• Maybe the interviewer got an emergency client commitment (although thats not generally seen)

Could be anything. Just wait it out!

In McKinsey interviews, this is a definite possibility if the candidate performed both well and swiftly. In that case, it would be a good sign rather than a bad sign.
