Inform companies of MBB final round

Hi,

Final year undergraduate university student and just finished an MBB internship in one EU country and I have been fast-tracked to the final round of the same company for the London office, which will happen in the last week of November.

In the meantime, I am applying for full-time grad roles at the other 2 MBBs and other companies like OW and S&. Should I inform them that I already have a final round with an MBB scheduled for the last week of November to speed up the process? If so, what could be the best way to do so?

Hi there,

First of all, congrats for the fast track!

Now head down on preparing for your interviews. I had experience with this same issue because I started the process with different companies at the same time and I had a super fast process with one of the MBB. I was honest with the other companies, telling them that I needed to speed up the process because I already had one in place that would have had its final round on a specific date. I was also honest when I received my first offer  and told them that I had to decide if I wanted to accept in XX days so I needed to do their final round before those XX days.

I would suggest you to use the same approach. Of course, be careful on how you say that. You do not have to sound like “let's speed this us so that if the other process does not go well, I can still interview with you”. You have to give them some reasons (especially to the other MBBs) why you prefer them and thus why you would like to do the process in parallel, considering that you would be “crazy” not accepting an MBB offer (in case everything goes well) without having another option on the table.

I believe in these situations, honesty and kindness are key.

Best of luck with your interviews and feel free to write me if you have any other doubt,
Francesca

Hi there!

Congrats! You have a very nice problem to solve :)

Yes, let them know. Be straightforward about it and ask them if it would be possible to them scheduled the other interviews earlier to give you a chance to get an offer from them as well.

Best of luck with all of this! I hope you get all of them!

Cristian

Yes 100% - given that you are such a desirable candidate most companies will accommodate your timeline for interviews. Just be upfront about it and explain that you are unable to change the other timeline and it will be fine.

Best,

Hi there,

1) Should I inform them that I already have a final round to speed up the process?

If you believe they might schedule the interviews after November, you can reach out to see if an earlier scheduling is feasible, however there are no guarantees that it will work.

2) If so, what could be the best way to do so?

I would recommend calling HR a few weeks after the application, this could work also to check the status of the screening.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi there,

Congrats on what is sounding like a successful recruiting journey so far!

Yes, you absolutely can/should inform them. Just say you have a final round with another firm, but that they are your top choice so you'd like to accelerate the process with them if possible.

Good luck!

Hi,

Yes I would definitely inform them of your situation. As long as you approach this professionally and politely, this will not be an issue.

Just reach out to recruiting and explain your situation.

Whether or not they decide to accelerate your process will depend on the firm, but in my experience at BCG we have accelerated the process before.

All the best!
