How should I go about preparing for a case interview with a logistics automation/robotics start up?

Hi,

I recently got an invite for the second round of a start up that works in robotics and logistics. The role I applied for was in Growth, therefore, including strategy - business and branding. I was told the interview would be a case interview with the case probably being around logistics and branding.

I have never done a case interview before this and now I have 3 more days to prepare. What is the best course of action to ace this interview?

Hi there,

With only 3 days, focus on what matters most:

  1. Learn case basics – problem definition, framework, analysis, recommendation (Victor Cheng videos or free case prep sites).
  2. Practice 3–4 cases – focus on market sizing, profitability, and go-to-market. Don’t chase perfection; practice structuring and communicating.
  3. Zoom in on growth/branding – be ready for pricing, customer segmentation, channels, and positioning vs. competitors.
  4. Think startup – structured but creative; show practical ideas, not just rigid frameworks.
  5. Communicate clearly – speak in bullet points, always summarize with a recommendation.

That mix will get you most of the way in three days.

Best,

Evelina

Hey there :)

With only three days, focus on the basics: learn how to structure problems clearly, practice doing quick, back-of-the-envelope math, and get comfortable with brainstorming. Since it’s a robotics/logistics growth role, expect cases on market entry, pricing, scaling operations, or branding a new product. Practice 3–4 mock cases (even solo), read up on logistics trends and automation, and prepare a few creative but structured branding ideas. The key is to stay calm, structured, and show how you think, not to be perfect.

best,
Alessa :)

Hi there,

Start by reviewing a few basic case frameworks (profitability, go-to-market, growth strategy) so you have a structure to lean on. Then practice out loud with simple business problems; even 20–30 minute drills will help you get comfortable explaining your thinking step by step. Since this is a logistics/robotics start-up, make sure you read up on industry basics (automation benefits, cost drivers, branding in B2B vs B2C). Finally, practice wrapping up with a clear recommendation, even if your analysis isn’t perfect.

Best of luck!

I would add one thing to everything else people said.

That startup with have a specific product, market, business model.

If you are really focused on getting a job with them, you should investigate all of these in detail and know them by heart.

If you add "top-down" type of communication + good structuring + market sizing abilities + strong specific industry / niche knowledge, there's a good chance that you will stand out from the crowd.
