How often does it happen vs it taking multiple days?
How common are same-day decisions after round 2?

Hi,
It feels like the same day decision a less common nowadays than they used to be before. But it's just s perception.
The decision timeline depends on how quickly the interviewers can meet do discuss your interview results, their staffing needs and your actual interview performance.
For example, if you performed really well, your profile is relevant and you have another offer on hand, they'll try to be as quick as possible to reach out to you with an offer.
On the other hand, if your performance wasn't stellar, your profile is not a perfect match for their practice and their current staffing needs are low, they'll probably delay getting back to you or can even shelve the decision until a later date in the future.
Can be days, weeks, or even months in some cases.
Regards,
Nick

At BCG I was called the same day - actually as I was headed to the airport back from the interview!
It truly depends on firm, region, role, AND how well you performed (i.e. if you knocked it out of the park and it was an easy decision or if you needed to be considered against other candidates)
Multiple days is far far more common.

You cannot ask such a general question ;-) depends on company, geography, hiring cycle etc. In germany at Mck for instance I'd say 95% same day, for middle east I'd say 95% NOT same day.. Warm regards, Frederic

Hi there,
Q: How common are same-day decisions after round 2? How often does it happen vs it taking multiple days?
Difficult to say as it depends on the firm and office. Regardless, in most cases, after a final round you should hear back within a few days.
Good luck!
Francesco

Hi!
It depends on the market.
In Germany it's quite common to receive the answer on the same day.
In other countries it can take two weeks.
I know it can be stressful to wait, but in the big scheme of things it really doesn't matter.
If in doubt, always keep applying for other roles while you wait so as to diversify your risk.
Good luck!
Cristian

Hi there,
In my case I left the last 2nd round interview at McKinsey's office with the offer on my hands.
Being said date, decision times at MBB are not super strict and depend heavily on interviewers' availability since all your 1st and 2nd round interviewers will gather together for taking the decision.
Best,
Alberto
