Hi There,

From what I read it seems like there is not necessarily a standard case or case type, so it would not hurt at least feeling comfortable going through a market type case. However, I would make sure you feel comfortable with casing overall as well!

Hope this helps!

Hi there,

Yes, it’s a good idea to practice market sizing for Capital One’s Business Manager case interviews. While the cases are often data-heavy and focused on business judgment, market sizing questions do come up — especially as part of broader profitability or growth strategy problems.

They may ask you to estimate things like:

  • The size of a potential credit card market
  • How many customers might adopt a new product
  • Revenue impact of launching a feature

You don’t need to master every niche format, but being comfortable with structured estimation, clear assumptions, and quick math will definitely help.

Happy to help you prep – feel free to reach out.
Best,

Hi there,

Usually market sizing is not accessed as an individual case type, rather, it is more commonly to be embedded in a case, as part of the quant assessment.

Therefore, no harm to get familiar / comfortable with the market sizing approaches, just in case you encounter one during the case.

Emily

Hi there,

I would go back to the recruiter and ask them about the format of the interview and what 'type' of cases they use. This will help you have a more tailored prep journey.

But by and large, yes, I would prepare market sizing questions. They are the bread and butter of almost any consulting interview, so it makes sense to be covered on this side.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • Please keep in mind that except for Bain in the UK and few smaller consulting firms, most consulting firms have not used standalone market size estimations for a long time. While this does not mean it never happens, this type of case study question is typically not be very meaningful for both the candidate and interviewer, as only a few skills are being tested.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

Hi,

It is better for you to play on the safe side and study it, the logic is actually pretty simple.

Crafting Cases has a 7 days free course and one of the modules is market sizing. May be worth looking.
