Ghosted after BCG R1?

Hi there, I am applying for the BCG Associate role as an experienced hire from a non traditional background in the Singapore office. I went for my R1 interview 4 weeks ago with no updates since then (was told to expect an update in 1-2 weeks in person after the interview). 2 weeks ago, sent a follow up to my recruiter with no reply. I am quite puzzled as the interviews went very smoothly, and would at least expect an update from a large professional company. Is this equivalent to a rejection? Hoping for some closure to move on.

While you may have had excellent personal chemistry and solid case mechanics, the final decision is a stack rank—it hinges on how your performance compared to the entire cohort competing for a very limited number of experienced hire slots in the Singapore office. You clearly met the bar, but you simply weren't ranked highly enough to secure one of the scarce R2 invitations this cycle.

You deserve closure, but BCG is unlikely to provide it promptly. My advice is to self-close the loop and dedicate your focus to the next stage. BCG will always reach out if they reject you. Until then, do not assume that you're out of the running. I suggest give it another week before following up again.

No, they don't do silent rejections.

I'm sure they'll get back.

Many things could've gotten in the way: HR overlooking your follow-up message, HR being on leave / sick / etc.

Send another follow up, as polite as you can, and say you just want clarity on the status of your application.

Don't assume it's a rejection.

It’s not an official rejection, because BCG normally does communicate rejections, but it often reflects an internal bottleneck or deprioritisation on the experienced-hire side.

At this point, get clarity rather than waiting indefinitely:

Focus on getting information, not more waiting.
If you were assigned a buddy, reach out and ask if they can discreetly check your status.
If you were referred, request your referral partner to enquire internally. These nudges often surface information faster than HR.
Send one more short, polite follow-up to the recruiter.
If there is still no response within a week, treat this hiring cycle as effectively closed and redirect your energy to Bain, McKinsey, and other Singapore strategy teams.

You did well to reach R1. Use that momentum, stay sharp on prep, and keep moving - silence usually reflects process gaps, not your capability.
