EY Supply Chain EAM Senior Tech Consultant Interview Advice

Hi everyone! I’m looking for advice on the interview process for the EY Supply Chain Senior Technology Consultant role.

Could anyone share what the typical interview process looks like, What kind of technical skill questions? what kind of case interviews are usually given (strategy vs. operations vs. tech-enabled transformation), and how technical the cases tend to be at the Senior Consultant level? I’d also appreciate insight into the behavioral interview questions EY commonly asks. Thank you!

That is a fantastic role, and you are right to prepare differently. For specialized technology consulting at the Big Four, especially a discipline like Supply Chain EAM, the interview dynamic shifts significantly away from the generalized case prep MBB candidates often use.

The interview process is less standardized than a generalist track. You will typically go through 2-3 rounds, culminating in a conversation with a Partner or Senior Manager who is likely the hiring lead for that specific EAM practice. The objective of the entire process is not just to test analytical muscle, but to validate your functional knowledge and client management maturity.

Regarding the case, forget the classic "Should Company X enter Market Y?" strategy case. Your case will be deeply operational and implementation-focused—a technology-enabled transformation scenario. Expect the prompt to be highly practical, like: "We need to execute a rapid implementation of Maximo/SAP PM for a utility client facing regulatory pressure. Outline the phased approach, identify the three biggest integration risks, and explain how you would staff the data migration workstream." Technical questions are often integrated into the case, probing your familiarity with specific EAM capabilities, data governance standards, and technical debt management.

For the behavioral section (fit interviews), remember that at the Senior Consultant level, they are testing for management potential. Pivot your STAR stories to focus heavily on how you handle client conflict, how you delivered difficult news to executive stakeholders, and how you mentored or led junior analysts to successful outcomes under stress. Show maturity, project ownership, and political savviness, not just effort.

Cases tend to be operations or tech-enabled transformation focused rather than pure strategy, and they expect you to think through processes, trade-offs, and implementation challenges. Behavioral questions often explore project experience, teamwork, problem solving, and client interaction. At Senior Consultant level, you should be ready to discuss examples in depth and show both technical understanding and structured problem solving. The format differs from region to region, firm to firm and role to role. 

So the only source I'd trust, if I were you, is the recruiter. 

Reach out and ask them. This is part of their role. 

Try to understand not only the format of the interviews, but also whether, for instance, the case you'll be tested on is industry-specific or not, and also whether there is a technical interview.

EY typically runs two to three rounds for this role. Expect behavioral and case interviews, with technical depth varying by interviewer.

On cases, supply chain roles at EY lean toward operations and tech transformation, not pure strategy. Think process optimization, system implementation trade-offs, and digital transformation. SAP or Oracle knowledge helps. Be ready to discuss build versus buy decisions and how you would approach a supply chain digitization project.

Technical questions focus on real experience. What tools have you used, how did you structure implementations, how did you manage stakeholders during a tech rollout. They want proof you have done this, not textbook answers.

For behavioral, EY cares a lot about teaming, integrity, and client impact. Have strong stories ready around leading through ambiguity, managing difficult stakeholders, and delivering results under pressure.

At senior level, also be ready to talk about business development. How have you grown client relationships or spotted new opportunities. That matters more than people expect.
