Hello there,
I have been invited to take Bain's TestGorilla assessment but I am unsure whether it includes video-based evaluation (for fit maybe?) and how to best prepare. I am already doing some exercises for the numerical, verbal, and chart-reading portions.
Thank you!
Does Bain's TestGorilla include video assessments?
Hi,
Short answer: sometimes yes, but not always. It depends on the specific version of the Bain TestGorilla assessment your office is using.
The main part of the test usually consists of timed multiple-choice questions assessing skills such as numerical, verbal, logical reasoning, chart or data interpretation and business judgement / problem solving.
Some versions of the Bain TestGorilla assessment do include a one-way video interview section. In that case, you record answers to pre-recorded prompts without interacting with an interviewer. The goal is mainly to evaluate communication, structure, and clarity of thinking.
PS: Not every office includes the video component, so if you want to be certain, the easiest option is simply to ask your recruiter or check the instructions in the invitation email.
Good luck with the assessment!
Great question - this can vary from office to office, but yes, the TestGorilla can include some recorded answers in video format at the end. Typically, this information should be shared with you via email when you receive the invite to take the test.
To prep for this test, I recommend doing GMAT style questions and practicing typical consulting fit questions to ensure you feel comfortable with your flow.
Happy to talk further if helpful!
Annika
Don't hesitate to reach out to the recruiter and ask.
There are multiple variations of these tests, and I wouldn't rely on answers from others to set my expectations of how the test will look.
The recruiter should give you a clearer sense of what to expect, and then you can tailor your prep accordingly.
Best,
Cristian
TestGorilla at Bain typically focuses on numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, and logical thinking. It does not usually include video assessments. The fit evaluation tends to come later in the process during actual interviews.
That said, formats can vary by office and hiring cycle. Ask your recruiter directly if there is a video component. A simple question like "does the assessment include any video questions" is completely normal.
Your prep sounds right. Keep focusing on the numerical, verbal, and chart reading sections. Speed and accuracy matter, so practice under timed conditions.
