Hi there,
I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:
- First of all, at most top US universities, consulting internship applications are handled jointly by the local office and the campus recruiting (OCR) team - but OCR usually leads the first round of filtering. They check basic criteria like GPA, major, school alignment, and deadlines.
- Moreover, if you already have a strong connection with the office, that can definitely help. Offices can flag strong candidates to override a weak OCR impression, especially if you’re close to recruiters.
- Lastly, I would strongly advise you to make sure your application files are flawless and tailored. In the end, no matter how friendly the office is, they need to justify your interview slot with a strong, complete file.
