Consulting Application Deadlines

Hi there,

Hope anyone reading this is doing well. I would like to ask: where can I find genuine information on application deadlines and the hiring cycle timelines for MBB, Tier 2, and boutique consulting firms in Asia? I understand some firms are hiring all year long - but I just need some info on this so that I do not get the wrong information, and that would make me miss the deadline.

Thank you in advance.

Hi, happy to help.

Deadlines might vary significantly by office and by cycle. The firm's career page for your specific office is one place to check, but the information there is not always complete or up to date. The most reliable route is to reach out directly to a recruiter at the firm (or through a referral) to confirm the real timeline for your specific office and role. A few things worth knowing:

  • MBBs typically run a main intake tied to the campus/MBA cycle (applications tend to open mid-year for autumn deadlines), plus off-cycle or experienced-hire openings that appear year-round.
  • For Tier 2 and boutiques the process is far less standardized. Many hire on a rolling basis and post roles as they come up, so setting up job alerts is more useful than looking for a fixed deadline.
  • If you are targeting a smaller office, there tends to be more flexibility on timing than the main cycle suggests, so it is worth reaching out even if the standard deadline appears to have passed.

Hope it helps. Feel free to drop me a message if anything is unclear and good luck with the prep!

Unfortunately, this doesn't exist in one centralised place.

You need to go firm by firm and office by office.

Start by creating a list of the firms you want to target and the specific office you're interested in. Then research and see if there's one specific role you have in mind. Then if the application timeline is not clear, try finding a contact address, email your CV, say that you're interested in applying, and want a 5 minute chat to clarify the timeline.

Not all recruiters will respond, but many will.

hi there!

For Asia, there’s no single official source because every office runs its own cycle, but there are a few reliable places to check and a simple rule that keeps you safe.

The most dependable information comes from each firm’s careers page, LinkedIn job postings, and university career centers in the region. MBB in Asia often hires year‑round, but the biggest waves are usually late summer to early autumn and again in January to March. Tier 2 firms and boutiques also recruit continuously, with occasional structured cycles depending on the office.

The safest approach is to check each office’s careers page once a week and follow their LinkedIn updates. That way you never miss a posting. If you want, I can help you track the main Asia timelines or show you how to monitor office‑specific openings.

Hi there,

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, the most reliable sources are the consulting firms' own career pages, since they post their open dates and deadlines there, and you can sign up for their talent newsletters to get alerts.
  • Moreover, however, because deadlines and cycles differ per country and change a bit every year, I would strongly advise you to reach out directly to the recruiting departments immediately, since only they can give you the exact dates for certain.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare your application files, for your upcoming pre-interview assessments and/or interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Searching for a master deadline calendar for Asia is a trap. For experienced hires, there are no fixed deadlines. MBB and boutiques hire laterally on a rolling basis whenever they sell a massive project and need bodies.

What most people get wrong is waiting for an official portal update. What actually matters is networking. Referrals bypass the screening gates entirely. Talk to people inside the firms now instead of refreshing career pages.

Hope this helps, and good luck with the process.
