Hi there,

Sounds like you have been invited to the internship interview - congrats on that!

The interview process for an intern typically does not differ from that of a full-time role, especially with regards to the face-to-face interview rounds

You can still expect a 45min interview which is broken down into

  • Fit / behavioural questions → 10-15mins
  • Case problem → 25-30mins
  • Q&A → 5mins

At BCG, it was very common that interviewers gave the same case problem to their interviewees regardless of the candidates level. What is different is in the expectations of the maturity of your performance.

All the best!

Absolutely anything :)

Don't expect a specific industry or case type unless you are applying for a specialist / expert / industry / functional role. For generalists, it can be anything.

Sharing here a few cases that you might want to practice which are based on recent, real MBB cases:

MBB & Tier2 preparation | 100+ offers | 8 years coaching | 3000+ sessions

Hello,

According to my experience, the intern candidates are given the same cases but the most difficult parts can sometimes be simplified (e.g. where a more senior candidate has to come up with some tough market sizing assumptions, this data is just handed to an intern).

I would still prepare for the toughest scenario, though, because one can never know for sure.

Good luck!
Nick

Well, I actually have a list of the questions asked :)

But, the summary here is: anything. Try not to go in expecting x and y. Rather, build up your ability to answer any question and be flexible/adaptable.

It’s not like a uni exam where you can prepare for the anticipated questions. Get comfortable solving problems, this is what is assessed in interviews. As intern you will be treated like a real consultant from day 1 onwards, hence the bar you need to meet to get in is the same as for a fresh BA. Warm regards, Frederic

Ex-McKinsey AP | Training top candidates to perform at MBB level and win the offer

Hi there,

I run a lot of intern interviews at McKinsey and the structure is the same as for a full-time position. You have a personal fit part and a case to crack.

Happy to help you with the preparation process if needed. Just send me a message.

Best,

Alberto
