BCG ASPIRE gamified assessment - what to expect?

Hi all, I’ve received an invite to BCG’s gamified assessment and was only given a high-level description about assessing workplace-related skills and behaviours. For those familiar with it, how would you recommend candidates prepare and approach the games? Are there any materials or specific areas worth reviewing beforehand?

It is basically a set of mini games that measure how you think and behave. Things like how you make decisions when you don't have all the information, how you handle trade-offs, how you respond when situations change. Each game is testing something specific about how your brain works, not what you know.

A few tips.

  • Be well rested and focused when you do it.
  • Find a quiet place with no interruptions.
  • Read the instructions carefully for each game.
  • Don't overthink. There is usually time pressure built in.

This assessment is a filter, not the final decision. It helps BCG screen for basic cognitive and behavioral fit. You still have case interviews ahead where the real evaluation happens. So don't stress too much. Show up sharp, be yourself, and move through it.

This format is just emerging now and there isn't a lot of reliable information about it.

I also don't want to tell you the same things that you've probably already read on blogs from consulting platforms.

My advice instead would be that you reach out to the recruiter and you try to squeeze more details from them. They tend to be quite helpful.

Ask if they can guide you towards similar materials you could practice on. Tell them that you want to ensure you are as prepared as possible because it's such an important opportunity for you.

Best,
Cristian
