Bain FT Gorilla Test, I think I failed it, do I have any chance of still being considered?

Who gets the gorilla assessment and why? Most of my friends, from other schools did not receive it. None of my friends, at my Ivy that I know, of applied to Bain.

I think I did okay on the first and last sections the logic and data analysis, but I did terribly on the numerical part, I had like one or two q of the 12 not answered and and like one or two I completely guessed on as I kept getting options that were not given. Is there anything I can do?

Hey there!

it is typically used when Bain doesn’t have enough info to evaluate you purely on resume, often for non-target schools or less traditional backgrounds. So getting it isn’t a bad sign, just part of their broader screening.

Missing a few questions or guessing on some doesn’t mean you’ve failed! The test is designed to be time-pressured, and they look at overall performance, not perfection. At this point, the best move is to wait and see, if you don’t hear back in 2 weeks, you could follow up politely.

And if it doesn’t work out this round, there are other ways in, referrals, laterals, off-cycle paths. Happy to guide you!

Best,
Alessa 😊

It’s a relatively new test that they began introducing last year. They may still be phasing out the rollout in your geo.

As for your performance - it’s hard to tell. They’ll consider the TestGorilla performance alongside your CV when deciding whether to interview you.

Your energy is probably best spent preparing for cases and working on other applications.

As for reaching out to your recruiter, you can certainly try this. However, I’m not sure whether this will work - since they might expect this information before you do the test

Hi there,

Congrats on getting the test invite!

Honestly, if you didn't perform well, then it's unlikely that you'll pass to the next stage (of course, you never know, maybe your CV and the rest of your application are strong enough to compensate for this). You should rather put your energy now in identifying other places where you could alternatively apply. You might find this guide useful in terms of how to approach the process:

Hello there,

I think even coaches don’t get it yet, as this is a new test. Hard to tell how your chances are, but if your CV is strong, that will def help!

Good luck!
