Asking for case interview feedback after accepting the offer

In the final round, I was thrown off-guard and had a rough time on one of my interviews. I believe this interview had a “stress test” angle designed to have this effect, but I think I could've dealt with it more smoothly. Ultimately I did get the offer that day, but I am still curious about how to handle similar situations in the future.

Would it be worthwhile to write to my interviewer and ask for some feedback? Or is it a waste of time to dwell on case performance at this point? In a real scenario I suppose I could just ask someone for advice.

Don't do it. You have to let things go. Don't be an overperfectionist. You're game is not cracking the case anymore, but instead it is succeeding in consulting.

If you happen to meet the person, “en passant” you may ask about it. But sending an email would suggest an obsessive over-perfectionist personality type with some lack of self confidence.

But the most important is this: It only matters to you because you haven't started yet! After you start, you won't care about it anymore.

Hey there,

Congratulations on getting the offer and passing the “test”!

Soliciting and giving feedback is one of the cornerstones of a well-functioning top consulting firm and everyone's career development.

It will be well received to follow up with the interviewer and ask about how to handle such situations on the actual job. A very fair question! However, wait until you're actually part of the firm

For now, enjoy the moment! Best of luck!

Let this go for now. Get into the firm and subtly ask if you still feel the need. You will learn these skills over time anyway.

I am sure you know which areas you could have done better.

Check out this article I wrote on handling interview stress/nerves. Plenty of tips & guidance here-https://www.preplounge.com/en/articles/job-interview-stress

Congrats and all the best.

Hi there,

Congratulations on the offer. I would not ask for feedback from the interviewer at this stage.

Instead, I would wait to join and have built relationship with someone in the team (if applicable with the same interviewer), then if still useful ask them some tips. That’s because asking now:

  1. You are probably going to get generic feedback
  2. You may give the impression you are self-doubting yourself (possibly that interviewer thought you did great, and you may kill that confidence)

Best,

Francesco

Hi there,

Your suggestion is all risk and no reward. Just get the offer and sign it!

You can always ask for feedback after the fact, and, you'll learn on the job how to do better :)

Dear candidate,

congratulations. Wait until you are with the firm and have started working there, then feel free to reach out. But also feel ok to simply not ask :). For example, if I were you, after accepting the offer and joining, I would reach out to people I interviewed with and build a network in the firm (provided you liked them).

Best regards,

Charlotte

Hello!

Congrats!

Honestly, I think it totally depends on how the communication is with the company. If they are very approachable, I might.

You can also wait until you are working already, you will have networking opportunities with this person. When you find yourselg having a random coffee with him/her, you can ask.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

I have recently received my feedback on a case interview, the interviewer mentioned that my performance in the case was great. However, it felt rehearsed and lacks creativity. What does it mean that it felt rehearsed?
