Another interview after MDP

Hi community,

I had R1 with a partner and R2 with MDP. MDP said he will ask HR to arrange another interview for me.

For me, it seems a little bit weird to have another interview after MDP's interview.

So, how do you think about this interview arrangement? Who might be the interviewer for this R3 interview? Another MDP? Or any other ones?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there,

1) So, how do you think about this interview arrangement?

I assume they mentioned initially that there would have been one interview only in R2. If not, there is nothing strange about having a second interview in R2.

If they did mention there would have been just one interview in R2, there are usually two reasons:

  1. They are unsure about your performance in the final, and they want you to do an extra interview. In this case, I would expect the usual structure (Fit + Case).
  2. For specific roles, they might want you to have a chat with the person leading the division. This might not involve a case.

If they haven’t mentioned details about the person, most likely it is #1.

2) Who might be the interviewer for this R3 interview? Another MDP? Or any other ones?

If they haven’t mentioned the person, it’s not really possible to know but usually the last interview is from partners/MDs. Rather than focusing on the role though I would recommend to clarify what is the content of the interview (case+fit or something else).

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi,

This normally happens when there is a discrepancy between the two MDP's evaluation, or if one MDP is not fully certain of some aspects of your performance. A third read happens to confirm whether you are good enough - don't sweat it, and just focus on the interview and doing the best you can.

All the best!

Hi there!

You'll likely be speaking with another Partner or MDP.

They sometimes organise 3rd round interviews either because the candidate is borderline (and the firm is also tight on how many people they are recruiting) OR because the role is actually special (e.g., technical role, knowledge role, senior role) and they require more touchpoints than usual to make a decision.

Regardless of all of this, you can expect the same format and content as in your second round. To be absolutely sure though, once the recruiter gets back with details for the next round, ask them about the format - just so you can prepare accordingly.

Best,
Cristian

Hi there,

It's almost a certainty you will be interviewed by another Partner, particularly a senior level one.

Don't worry - they would not spend time on you if they didn't think you have what it takes! Essentially, they're doing a final check here…really it's just yours to lose (meaning, you're doing great!)

Hello,

Most likely it will be another partner or MDP!
