I have done the Platinion interviews, so here are answers from my own experience and research I have done at the time.

Unlike traditional BCG generalist interviews, Platinion cases are more tech-focused, often blending classic consulting structure with IT-specific content. Common themes include:

  • IT strategy (e.g., legacy system modernization, tech stack evaluation)
  • Architecture assessments (e.g., cloud migration, infrastructure redesign)
  • Vendor selection or make-or-buy decisions
  • Digital transformation planning
  • Tech cost optimization

You may still get market-sizing or profitability-style segments, but always linked to a tech context.

Some tips to prepare:

  • Revise on key IT concepts (Know the basics of cloud vs. on-prem, APIs, microservices, ERP systems, cybersecurity, etc.—not deeply technical, but enough to speak comfortably.)
  • Use classic case structure, but adapt it:
    Think MECE buckets like:
    • Business needs / requirements
    • Technical feasibility / architecture
    • Cost & ROI
    • Implementation roadmap / risks

Hello!

For BCG Platinion IT Associate interviews, prepare for technology-specific cases such as IT strategy, digital transformation, system integration, or architecture queries. You should be able to analyze trade-offs, suggest steps for implementation, and illustrate the impact of technology on business objectives. Familiarity with agile, cloud, and cybersecurity would be useful.

I can offer you a coaching if you'd like to practice together.

Kind regards,
Alessa

Hi there!

I see you received several great answers already.

Make sure that you check with the recruiter and ask what sort of cases can you expect. For instance, are they industry specific, are they focused on anything in particular? Is there a technical component to the interview or will there be a regular case like for a generalist role?

The clearer you are about these things, the more tailored you can be with your prep.

Best,
Cristian
