Interview process for international applicants at JPMorgan

Hi all,

I’m currently based outside the U.S. and just submitted my application for a summer analyst role at JPMorgan. Assuming I get shortlisted, can anyone walk me through what the interview process looks like for international applicants?

Is it the same as for U.S. candidates, or are there additional steps (like language assessments, visa considerations, or extra interview rounds)?

Thank you!

Hey, nice that you're applying! And great that you’re thinking ahead.

From what I’ve seen, the overall process is pretty similar for international applicants. You’ll usually go through the same steps as U.S.-based candidates: HireVue first, then live interviews if you pass that. The number of rounds can vary a bit by region or division, but it's not dramatically different.

In terms of extra steps, sometimes there are a few additional things to keep in mind; like HR might ask about your work authorization or visa situation early on. But that's more of a logistical check, not part of the interview "grading."

Language assessments aren't usually a thing unless you're applying for a specific regional office where fluency is a must. And if you're applying to a U.S. location from abroad, just be ready for time zone differences in scheduling interviews.

So overall: not a totally separate process, but a few extra things to stay on top of. Rooting for you!

Best regards. 😊

Hi!

The core interview process mirrors that for U.S. candidates and is largely virtual to accommodate global locations: after shortlisting from your application, you'll typically receive a HireVue video interview invite (3-4 behavioral questions like "Why JPMorgan?" with 2-minute responses, no technicals), followed—if successful—by a superday of 3-5 back-to-back 30-minute interviews (mix of behavioral, technicals on accounting/valuation/M&A, and possibly a case study) via Zoom, often with analysts, VPs, and MDs.

There are no additional interview rounds, language assessments, or formal extra steps, but visa considerations arise post-offer; JPMorgan sponsors J-1 or H-1B visas for eligible internationals (e.g., via the Bridge to Americas program for LATAM or general sponsorship for top performers), though you'll need to confirm eligibility during the offer stage and provide documentation like passport details early. Focus prep on concise STAR behavioral stories, firm-specific enthusiasm (e.g., JPM's global markets leadership), and basic technicals, while signaling your visa status in your application to avoid surprises—many internationals secure spots this way without hurdles.

Hey!

For international applicants at JPMorgan, the interview process is largely similar to that for U.S. candidates, with the standard rounds including online assessments, first-round interviews, and potentially a Superday depending on the region. The main differences usually involve visa and work authorization considerations, which may require additional documentation or discussion during the process.

Some offices may also assess language skills if the role requires it, but technical and behavioral interviews follow the same format, focusing on accounting, valuation, problem-solving, and cultural fit. It’s important to be prepared to discuss your eligibility to work and any logistical considerations alongside your technical and personal fit preparation.
