Goldman is often called the top BB. For those who’ve worked there, does it actually live up to that reputation?
Goldman Sachs really the best?

Hi!
I haven’t worked at Goldman myself, but I’ve picked up a lot through colleagues and friends who have.
From what they share, the brand and training are truly world-class – the name opens doors, and the early exposure to high-profile deals is hard to beat. At the same time, the reputation for intensity is real: the hours are long, and the culture can be very demanding.
So in that sense, Goldman definitely lives up to its “top BB” reputation. Whether it’s really the best, though, depends on what you personally value. Some people love to work in that environment, others find a better fit and balance at different firms.

Hello,
I agree with Rita. Goldman’s reputation, training and the practical experience you gain there are outstanding. The firm is known for demanding hours and a highly competitive environment, but this also creates a steep learning curve and opens strong career opportunities. Whether it is the best choice depends on what you value most, but in terms of brand and professional development it clearly ranks at the very top of the industry.
Best regards,
Simon

Hey!
Goldman’s reputation comes from its strong deal flow, deep client relationships, and the caliber of people it attracts, which does create an intense but very high-quality learning environment. The brand name can open doors throughout your career, but the flip side is that the hours and pressure can be even more demanding than at peers, and the culture can feel more competitive than collaborative.
Whether it truly feels like “the best” depends on your priorities: if you want the steepest learning curve and maximum career optionality, it delivers, but if you value balance or a more collegial environment, other firms might actually suit you better. I haven’t worked there myself, but I’ve had colleagues who came from Goldman and shared similar perspectives.

Hello!
Goldman Sachs is widely regarded as a top-tier bulge bracket bank, and many people who have worked there praise its strong deal flow, rigorous training, and exposure to high-profile transactions. While the environment can be intense and competitive, employees often find the experience highly rewarding for skill development and long-term career opportunities. I haven’t worked there personally, but I’ve had colleagues who have, and they consistently speak positively about the professionalism, resources, and network you gain while at Goldman.
