I’m applying to Fidelity’s equity research associate program and wanted to get a sense of how the career path plays out there. Is it possible to eventually pitch stocks or lead coverage, or do people usually leave after a couple of years to go elsewhere? Also curious how supportive they are with CFA sponsorship.

From what I’ve seen and heard from people who’ve gone through it, it is definitely possible to eventually pitch your own ideas and even take on some coverage. It usually takes a couple of years and depends a lot on how proactive you are and how well you perform. Some people stay and build a long-term career there. Others leave after two or three years to join hedge funds, asset managers, or other investment firms. It really depends on your goals.
As for CFA support, Fidelity has a solid reputation. They typically cover exam fees, sometimes offer dedicated study time, and generally take the program seriously. It is something they value internally, not just a checkbox.
