Hey everyone, I’ve been shortlisted for Citi’s IB analyst programme. Based on some Glassdoor reviews, it looks like the assessment day includes a numerical test, group exercise, phone interview, and then three technical interviews (all in one long session). In other sources, it’s broken up differently. Did you experience it as a marathon day or spread over weeks? And which part should I prioritize in my prep? Thanks!
Citi IB: full assessment day or spaced interviews
Hey there 👋
Congrats on making it to this stage! That’s already a big achievement! 🎉 Citi tends to run the process in one Assessment Centre–style day, especially for EMEA roles. It can feel like a bit of a marathon (tests, group exercise, and back-to-back interviews), but occasionally they split it over 2–3 shorter sessions depending on location and role.
If I were you, I’d prioritize technical prep (valuation, accounting links, and current market topics) and team dynamics for the group exercise. Those are usually where candidates stand out most. The numerical test is important, but it’s mainly a filter, not a deal-breaker if your other parts are strong.
Stay calm, pace yourself, and treat it as one continuous day of showing you’d be great to work with.
Hope that helps. Good luck!
Congrats on getting this far, that’s a great achievement already. I completely agree with what Rita said, and I’d just add one small tip from my side.
Try to look at the assessment day as one continuous process rather than separate interviews or exercises. The assessors often exchange impressions afterward, so showing consistent energy, communication, and attitude throughout the day can really make a difference. Staying calm and engaged from start to finish often leaves a stronger overall impression than trying to stand out in just one part.
