Is it true that Deutsche Bank still has a reputation problem?

I got an offer from Deutsche Bank, but I’m worried about their reputation after past scandals. Are they still seen as a strong bank, or would it be risky to start my career there?

First off, congrats on the offer! ?

Now, about Deutsche Bank’s reputation. Yes, they had their fair share of issues in the past, and some of those headlines still linger. But the reality is, within the industry, DB is still a solid name, especially in certain areas like leveraged finance and fixed income. They’ve been working hard to rebuild and while they might not have the same prestige as a top-tier bulge bracket, they’re not a bad place to start your career, so don't worry about it.

I wish you much sucess for the start!

Hey there,

from what I know, Deutsche Bank’s reputation issues were a bigger concern years ago, but they’ve made solid progress in turning things around. They’re still a strong name, especially in Europe, and in areas like fixed income and restructuring, they’re actually pretty competitive. If your long-term goal is top-tier M&A, other banks might place better, but for solid deal experience and good exit opps, I wouldn’t see it as a bad move. At the end of the day, it depends on what you want out of your first role!
