Capital One Commercial Bank 1-Hour Mini Case Interview

Hi everyone,

I’ve been invited to interview with Capital One’s Commercial Bank group, and the first round includes a 1-hour mini-case.

I was hoping to get some insights into what this mini-case might entail, any preparation advice, or recommendations for resources that could help me get ready. If you’ve gone through this interview or have experience with similar cases, I’d greatly appreciate your guidance!

I might be a bit too late, but saw your question and still wanted to leave a reply as it might help candidates in the future as well.

The mini-cases of Capital One are usually a mix of qualitative and quantitative analysis, often focusing on assessing a business or evaluating a loan/credit decision. I'd expect something related to cash flows, or risk assessment.

The best preparation is getting comfortable structuring your thoughts fast. You should learn how to break down problems logically, focus on key drivers, and explain your reasoning clearly. Practicing cases with a partner or using PrepLounge’s case library can help you get into the flow. I'd also recommend getting some practice on doing calculations quickly in your head. Your math doesn't neet to be perfect, but you should be able to handle big numbers.
