Can you suggest some sources for pro bono consulting workshops?  I am an experienced professional and looking for new exposure in consulting.

Hi there,

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • First of all, it is great to see that you would like to gain some experience in strategy consulting while working full-time.
  • Unfortunately, I fear that most of the well-known options, such as 180 Degrees Consulting, may not be available to you since you no longer qualify as a student.
  • Instead, in order to show an affinity for strategy consulting for a potential application in the future, I would advise you to look into recruiting workshops offered by strategy consulting companies, as they also have some dedicated to experienced professionals. You may also want to consider ways to work on consulting tasks or projects at your current employer that are similar to those in strategy consulting.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to address your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Ehm not sure - I understand the question fully - can you elaborate?

If

1) Finding workshop / ways to get / switch into consulting - I back other answers

→ MBA is by far the MOST AUTOMATIC routes if you are not within 1-2 years after undergraduate or if you have a “non-classic” profile

2) If it is the question of how to start a freelance consulting business - please DM me - I can elaborate :)

Hope it helps

#1 rated MBB & McKinsey Coach

Hi there,

Throwing another idea in there - if you're considering making the switch to consulting, seeking further education might help a lot as well. If you join a business school for a year they will also provide you with a lot of exposure to consulting-like opportunities.

Best,

Cristian
