Workshop Invitation

Hello there,

I’m applying for a business analyst internship at McKinsey. I have been recently invited to a workshop.

Do you think that’s a good sign, are they interested in me?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, it differs per office, but typically these workshops help you prepare for the interviews (explaining what is expected from you).  They would only invite people to the workshop who will also be invited to the interviews

Thank you for the answer! I searched for what I suppose is the Recruiter on LinkedIn, and I noticed that he also posted the workshop. I felt kind of sad, but on the other hand, I had a personal email. Anyways, do you think I’ll be getting an interview? I already did the Solve test Thank you!

Hi there,

Q: I’m applying for a business analyst internship at McKinsey. I have been recently invited to a workshop. Do you think that’s a good sign, are they interested in me?

If it is a workshop that is not open to everyone, then yes, it is a good sign – it means they considered your CV positively. A workshop doesn’t guarantee an invitation for an interview, but it could be a great opportunity to network and land a referral, which will increase your chances of being selected.

Good luck!

Francesco

Thanks for your answer. I solve the McKinsey’s game two weeks ago. I noticed my manager put an invitation to the online workshop, but as I said I got a personal mail with my name on it (I don’t know if that’s important, or am I’m going delusional hahaha) Thoughts?

Hi there, if the invitation is linked to passing the Solve game, it is definitely a good sign. If the Solve game and the workshop are related to separate applications, it depends if the workshop was open to everyone or not. If there was a selection, it is still a good sign. If instead, everyone applying could attend it, it might not indicate much, as there was no screening. Good luck!

Yes - an invitation to a workshop means that you are the type of candidate they would typically hire. It does not guarantee an interview or an internship but is a great way to meet other like minded people, learn about McKinsey and get a leg up on the hiring process.

I saw that’s an “open” online workshop as I saw on my hiring manager’s LinkedIn board that she invited to sign in, but I got a tailored email. What do you think?

Hi there,

Yes, in fact, workshops often have more limited spaces than interviews so fewer people are invited to these.

Enjoy it, network, make a good impression!

Cheers,

Florian

Oh! I did not knew that, well it’s an online workshop, so I may need to put extra attention to make a good impression. I notice my hiring manager put that workshop to anyone who wanted to sign in. But I got a tailored mail with my name (I don’t know if that’s tailored enough haha). I did the solve and a week and a half later I’m receiving this email. So I’m kinda confused… but I’ll take it as a good sign

Thanks for the clarification. Online workshops are a bit less exclusive. Nonetheless, a great chance to shine! :-) All the best, Florian
