What case coaching packages are the best?

I have a few interviews with MBB and I wanted to know how people went about choosing a case coach? Are the packages e.g. Bridge to Consulting or the MBB offer machine good? I'm finding it hard to find independent recommendations.

Many thanks

#1 Coach for Sessions (4.500+) | 1.500+ 5-Star Reviews | Proven Success: ➡ interviewoffers.com | Ex BCG | 10Y+ Coaching

Hi there,

Not sure about external platforms, but several coaches on PrepLounge offer coaching packages. You can find them here (you can either scroll down or select “Expert Package” in the “Categories” bucket):

https://www.preplounge.com/en/shop

The advantages compared to other platforms are:

  • You can see independent reviews
  • You can choose from different coaches the one who matches your needs/budget
  • You can message the coaches before buying a package
  • You can check the answers of a coach in the Q&A
  • In case the package doesn’t have a lot of reviews, you can check the reviews for the individual classes of the coach

If you have additional questions please feel free to PM me.

Hope this helps,

Francesco

I used MBB offer machine and can highly recommend it as you get access to a lot of videos + learning material, you have Ex MBB coaches and a peer group to prep with - and they are super flexible and well organized :-)

+1 on this. They are relatively expensive, but by far the most professional mentoring available from what I saw anywhere. And also by far the best results. Every other program participant I interacted with now also has at least one mbb offer. Absolute recommendation - if one can afford it

I used one of star coaches here on Peplounge, but was a bit disappointed with the approach to case solving. It was primarily about memorizing stuff and I could never be sure that I would do well on a case, if it was about an uncommon topic that I had no pre-memorization for. It was enough for a boutique firm, but I was directly rejected by Bain after round 1. Then I decided to swicht strategy and I joined the MBB offer machine. Content wise this was truly another level of quality, even though they can be tough in the feedback. But already after 10% of their program I felt I had already learned so much more than in my enture preparation before. I'm now having final rounds with McKinsey and Roland Berger, and BCG still upcoming. Feeling very confident.

what is the price of the MBB Offer machine package? I couldn't find pricing information on the website for some reason.

I also did the full program with The MBB offer machine last year to get my offers from MBB. First they put me on a waiting list for a few days because there was no free slot, but it just took a couple of days until I could start. So not a big deal. The coaching was really phenomenal I must say - and in all honesty, it was way more logical and thorough than anything I could see here on Preplounge or in the typical books or courses like Crafting Cases which have been created by former MBB interns. I have also met quite a bunch of people in my firm who also used the MBB Offer machine. So their results definitely seem to be consistently top notch. One of the founders, Sidi, is also here on Preplounge. Not sure though how active he is nowadays on this platform. Edit: The price is success dependent. You only pay the full price if you receive an offer, and it is then a one-digit percentage of your first year salary package.

+1 on The MBB Offer Machine! I tried all the typical stuff (Preplounge Cases, Business School Resources, buying coaching sessions from several Preploung coaches) but never really understood how problem solving works in a reliable way. After abandoning all of this (also mentally!) and getting through a proper 3 months skill buiding regime with The MBB Offer Machine I found my interviews at McKinsey and Bain so ridiculously easy - it's really hard to understand withouth having gone through it. Most people are too afraid of the investment for this program - but this is actually one of the reasons why I could stand out so much.

I used MBB Offer MAchine to make the leap from a boutique firm into MBB. Content and guidance is second to none. The fee (including the success premium after the offer) turned out to be far lower than the signing bonus I got from McKinsey. They are very sharp, very direct/honest, but also really care about your success. I wrote a review on Trustpilot (many other reviews can also be found there).

The thing I like about preplounge is that you have a lot of coaches available, and you can go through their profile, read their value proposition, understand their experience level, read their recommendations, and also read their answers to Q&A to check how knowledgeable they are (and their personal style), and you can even engage with them with the personal message feature. You can find someone who matches your specific need. And you can try a single session, before commiting to the “full package” (and you can also try a short conversation begore commiting to a single session). This is very transparent at all levels.

From what I'be been able to understand, some coaches around here have their own pre-made packages, others don't have a standardized package but offer a mentoring approach and can customize a package for you, and others focus more on providing a realistic mock interview experience. You should check this link https://www.preplounge.com/en/case-interview-experts.php

What I don't like about some websites out there is that they are not very transparent on their approach and prices, and also that they ask you to leave your details to schedule a (sales) call so that you can get that information…

Hello!

If you are looking for independent comments from people who indeed have worked with the coaches, Preplounge is indeed a good place.

All coaching packages can be rated only by people who bought them, so you can trust those opinions.

I furthermore advise you that you have a quick chat with the coach beforehand, to learn more about the way the work and whether that aligns with what you want.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

Hi there,

This is indeed an interesting question which is probably relevant for quite a lot of users, so I am happy to provide my perspective on it:

  • From my own personal experience, I would advise you to have 15-minute introductory sessions with the coaches on your shortlist to understand how exactly they would help you and whether it feels natural talking to them. In the end, it is your time and money which should be invested in the best possible way.
  • Moreover, I would advise you not to focus too much on the sheer figures on PrepLounge since some people do coaching as their full-time profession for years but still would not offer a better value.
  • Lastly, I would advise you to research on your coaches a bit (most can be found on LinkedIn very easily). Unfortunately, most have merely spent 1-2 years in consulting meaning they were hardly part of the recruiting teams at all.

In case you want a more detailed discussion on how I might be able to work with and help you, please feel free to contact me directly.

I hope this helps,

Hagen

Hi there,

There are pros and cons to all of them! Ultimately, I highly recommend you don't “shop cheap”. You may have heard the expression “you get what you pay for”, and in this instance the risk you take on by going cheap just isn't worth it (I've seen too many candidate who learned bad habits and actually did themselves a disservice by not getting the right package/coach).

When shopping, just make sure to to your research! You need to look at reviews, talk to other candidates about what they're using, and, ultimately, try to have a call with the coaches you're interested in - see if they're a good fit!
