Understanding Accenture Capability Network

Good day forum members,

I will be joining ACN as analyst this year. In this regard I need your experienced opinion regarding the following:

1. Project types we will be working on i.e. implementation role or strategy role; international roles availability; length of projects

2.  If experience in ACN puts us on a good footing while applying to MBB firms and converting it.

3. Growth prospects and learning opportunities within the ACN network.

Thank you!!

Hello,

To answer your questions:

1. It depends on where/on what you'll be staffed

2. Consulting experience will look good on your resume, so from that perspective yes, it will be helpful in applying to MBB

3. Same as #1, this will depend on where/on what you are staffed. To understand this in more detail, I would reach out to people currently working in the Accenture office in your role, and ask them these exact questions. You will be able to get a better lay of the land directly from the horse's mouth that way!

Hi there,

These are all great questions and it's amazing that you're making the effort of understanding more about the firm before you join.

My number one recommendation would be to reach out to people who were hired in that firm in a similar role within the last 6 months. These are people who are fresh out of the recruitment process and who probably feel really good about sharing their knowledge and their first perception of the job. You can use the following guide to conduct these conversations:

Also, in terms of how to prepare for a consulting job, these two articles distil pretty much everything I've learned from the time I spent in consulting:

Hi there,

What great questions to ask as you network with people there!

Exactly what you should ask as you network and get to know people in the firm.

In regards to #1 and #3 this will be quite variable based on situation (the team you're put on, the projects you're staffed on) but also how much you take control (effective networking, performing well, fighting for certain projects well, etc.)

For #2, it's not a brand that MBB cares about, so not, it doesn't put you on any special/good footing. However, any consulting experience is helpful.
