I did very poorly on the online case. I used a wrong number to calculate something and since it is with a bot (a person would redirect me to use the correct number), I bomebed the online case for MBAs. This is not the BCG potential test. This is the first round 1st case for MBAs that is a 30 minute long case with a bot.

I did very very well on the 2nd case which was with a BCGer via zoom.

My guess is the online case is taken very seriously as well?

While no one can predict the final outcome, there is more emphasis placed on person to person interactions over AI interactions for sure. Since there is not much you can do right now, it is much better to forget about it (maybe even treat it as a rejection) so you can focus on all the remaining interviews you have.

All the best,

Udayan

Hi,

As far as I know, if you don't pass the online test you should not get an interview.

In any case I would just wait and see while still preparing for other firms.

Hi A,

Assuming that you performed well with an interviewer it seems not that bad to me.

But it doesn't make much sense guessing around, so better put efforts in further preparations for the other interviews.

Best,

André

McKinsey offers w/o final round interviews - 100% risk-free - 10+ years MBB coaching experience - Multiple book author

Hi Anonymous,

In principle the online case is also an important component of your overall evaluation. Having 1 math mistake in that might not be the end of your application process, especially if the 2nd case was done very very well as you say.

So for the moment it's mostly speculation - but doesn't look too bad though!

Hope that helps - if so, please be so kind to give it a thumbs-up with the green upvote button below!

Hi,

Unfortunately, yes it's taken quite seriously. It's viewed as a stagegate. So, if you genuinely bombed it, you're unlikely to move forward (keep us posted please).

That beings said, you should do the following two things:

  1. Assume you bombed it - Prepare for all your other interviews
  2. Assume you passed - Prepare for all your other interviews
