Timelines for Deloitte hiring!!

Hi - any idea how much time on avg. is a norm with Deloitte to close their open roles E2E? If said role is senior level i.e. Sr. Manager or Director!

I don’t have a job at hand as I lost due to lay off during Nov’23, so this is my do or die situation. also, am trying but so far I don’t have anything in pipeline going on apart from Deloitte.
Now, my partner round is only left as this process is going on since mid Nov. am told partner is not available due to slow/holiday during Dec. so I need to wait till Jan’24

1) jan’24 means mid Jan then I expect partner round to happen ?

2) from partner round to offer any idea how much sweet time they could take ?

3) given above situations, wait is only choice I’ve ?

4) am trying my best to convert this opportunity to offer, so my focus is optimistic and positive pinning high hopes on partner round and ultimately offer.
hope it’s fine to think so ?

5) Does Deloitte also have year end shit down from 15 Dec?

Hi there,

1) Jan’24 means mid Jan then I expect partner round to happen?

It could be anytime in January, most likely after Jan y.

2) From partner round to offer any idea how much sweet time they could take?

Usually a couple of days, occasionally a bit more.

3) Given above situations, wait is only choice I’ve?

The only options I see are (i) continue to prepare for the final and (ii) apply to other companies.

4) Am trying my best to convert this opportunity to offer, so my focus is optimistic and positive pinning high hopes on partner round and ultimately offer. Hope it’s fine to think so?

Yes but please expand the possible targets if possible. It is always risky to have all your eggs in one basket.

5) Does Deloitte also have year end shut down from 15 Dec?

Depending on the county, the Christmas break could start a few days after that.

Good luck!

Hi there,

In general it can take a few weeks or a few months.

1) jan’24 means mid Jan then I expect partner round to happen ?

We don't know. We didn't receive their email/comms.

If they said January, then you can expect mid/late Jan most likely. But, with these behemoth's of firms you also have to be prepared for delays - it *could* even happen in Feb.

2) from partner round to offer any idea how much sweet time they could take ?

As long as they like. It would be weeks or months. Or it could be a day.

3) given above situations, wait is only choice I’ve ?

Not at all. The choice you have is to hustle. Network with and apply to DOZENS of other firms/roles. There are so many out there. You should have 40+ applications out there. Deloitte should not be the only firm you're interviewing with.

4) am trying my best to convert this opportunity to offer, so my focus is optimistic and positive pinning high hopes on partner round and ultimately offer.

Totally! But, hope for the best and plan for the worst. Deloitte would never ever have just 1 project in their pipeline. You should not have 1 interview in yours. Over the next few weeks you need to be spending every single day finding more opportunities.
hope it’s fine to think so ?

5) Does Deloitte also have year end shut down from 15 Dec?

From around that time, yes, likely

Hi there,

First of all, I am sorry to hear about your job loss!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your questions:

  • First of all, due to the nature of the questions, unfortunately, I cannot provide a meaningful answer to most of them, and I would highly advise you to reach out to the recruiter to inquire about them. However, naturally, it would be rather rare to have an interview on the 1st/ 2nd of January, and the time between final interview round and offer depends on several factors.
  • Moreover, in your situation, waiting might indeed be the only choice. However, I would advise you to continue exploring other opportunities in parallel. This not only provides a safety net but also keeps you in the recruitment loop, which is always beneficial.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there!

The more senior the roles, the less structured the process and the longer it takes.

I worked with people at the Director or Associate Partner level, and the recruitment took 6-7 months on the long end.

Typically, after the final round, they respond quickly, but most of the time stretches in between the rounds. That's because they want to introduce you to plenty of people in the organisation and ensure that they are making a wise choice with you.

My strong recommendation would be to look for alternative opportunities at this time. Don't just rely on one thing even though you feel you're the right fit for the role. Something can always come in between and it's not great to see your only option evaporate.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Hi,

I think you have posted a few questions similar to this current lineup before but here is another recap:

  1. Anytime in January would still lie within the specified timeframe. But the first week of January is probably unlikely assuming an end-of-year shutdown
  2. If they want you, at least a verbal offer will be extended within a few days
  3. If you are in need of a job, you don't sit and wait for any one potential employer to get back to you. You start blasting out applications left and right so that you increase the odds of finding something you are content with in a timely manner. In this particular situation at the present stage of your recruiting process with Deloitte, yes, your only option is to wait for January (as was stated when you asked this in previous posts)
  4. Of course you should approach the final interview with optimism and give it your best. But if this is currently the only active application you have, you are best served by expanding your job search to other firms as well
  5. Many geographies have a year-end shutdown. So don't expect miracles during the second half of December

Good luck
