Hi all,
Can those who recently sat the Solve assessment for McKinsey please confirm that the 2 games to complete are:
- Food Chain
- Plant Defense
Or did someone ever get something different recently?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hey there,
My survey of 68 people (a pretty global sample) over the last 2 months did not indicate anything new or out of the ordinary.
All the best,
Florian
Hi there,
Q: Can those who recently sat the Solve assessment for McKinsey please confirm that the 2 games to complete are Food Chain and Plant Defense?
These are the two most common games now. However, McKinsey has used as well a new game (called Redrock Study or Animal Analytics) in some countries in 2022.
You can find an article on the game below with a few tips:

If you want to prepare further, you can find below a video simulation with:
You can check the video simulation at the following link - full disclosure, I am the author ;)

Hi there,
Most people get food chain and plant defense.
That said, I have had a few candidates in the past few months that got a different game (particularly, a sort of wolves population management game).
I got so unlucky and had the RedRock game instead of the plant defense one.😢
Same! Wondering if this is more common now?
I got it too!
I also just completed the RedRock game as well
I got it too, the red rock study was quite lengthy Interested to know if someone did the study and all the 10 mini cases along with it
I also got the RedRock study... Having to calculate and do the 'journal' online was extremely ineffective, such a bad UI/UX....
Yeah I had the 10 cases and 1 study

Same here, i found it quite hard too..
did you guys got the wolf calculation as well?
Yes! Me too and a lot of confusions in question and game mechanics. Very bad :(
Also got RedRock :( So bad you can't see what is on the second section -cases. Ended up spending too much time on Investigation and Analysis. IMO red rock is significantly less user friendly than landscape. And wish cases were on the first section or could go back and forth between sections

Are there any updates from the ones who took redrock? Did you land an interview eventually? Is there anyone who still got plant defense? Thank you very much:)
For me, I’m still waiting. No any updates. More than 3 weeks. But I have heard someone received feedback last week. How about other?
I haven’t received feedback either so far. Did the person who already heard back pass the test?
They didn’t pass. They registered for McKinsey insight, however; I don’t know others. Please share with me if anyone got updated.
I completed the test recently. Haven't heard back but I got the ecosystem one and RedRock. The first one was actually interesting and engaging, the RedRock study was challenging and not very user friendly. I got 6 mini cases instead of 10, but I only had enough time to complete the main study. I found the mini cases harder than the actual main study!
Hi there,
Same here from the candidates that I recently worked with.
Best,
Cristian
Hi there,
Can only agree with Florian. The two people I've prepped in the DACH region last month both had the same tasks.
Thank you so much for your response! Do you know what the threshold is to pass the test? - I.e. if 7/8 species survive, do we still have a chance to pass - What is an average good score for the Plant Defense? Many thanks in advance!
