Hello everyone,

I was referred by the JA position and had submitted the application via the referral link given to me. I have applied for one of the European offices.

Today I got the automated rejection email from Australia & New Zealand Recruiting Team.

This is a bit confusing for me as I had not mentioned a single office from Australia and New Zealand in the application form.

The rejection should come from the office I have applied for right?

Hey there,

That is definitely a mistake on their end. I would reach out to either

a. your friend to contact HR of the office you applied to

b. HR directly and discuss your situation

Cheers,

Florian

Hello,

This certainly seems like an error. I would reach out to HR, and maybe also to the person who referred you.

Hi there,

I believe there was an internal mistake processing your application. I would call and verify with HR.

I personally coached a candidate that got an initial rejection email due to a somehow similar mistake, clarified with HR, was then invited for interviews and got an offer (this was for BCG though).

Best,

Francesco

Hi there,

Zero doubt that this is a mistake on their end (either technical or personnel-based). I would 100% reach out and check with them.

If you can call, that's ideal, but email should be fine.

Such mistakes are not uncommon. Best is to go all-out in clarifying the issue with your referral contact and the HR of the office you applied at. Such things can happen once in a while. Don't fret, clarify first, and keep going.
