McKinsey Canada

Hello everyone,

I reached out to a senior partner at McK London office I told him, I was looking to move to Canada end of this year who shared my CV with the North America team.

I was reached out by a senior recruiter (who only hires EMs and above) from the NYC office and was informed that my CV will be shared with the team that does Canada recruitment. The recruiter also cc'ed me in the email while reaching out to the Canadian recruiter (who by the way sits in the Chicago office as per Linkedin).

It's been over a week and there has been no reply.

Can you tell me what(more) I can do?

Timeline: Already been over a month since I spoke to Senior Partner and the NYC recruiter took 4 weeks before connecting me to the Canadian recruiter.

Hello,

I would suggest emailing the Canadian recruiter directly.  No need to put the original referrers in cc yet.  Just ask if there's any next steps that you can take and that you're looking forward to talking to them.

Recruiting in general is extremely busy right now (that's a good thing) but this is also a busy season for them as they prepare for fall recruiting.  So likely they just never got to your email, simple as that.

Hope that helps,

Allen

Emailing directly will probably result in applying online. I will lose the advantage of the referral from the senior partner?

Hi there,

You've been doing pretty good networking so well done there!

I would wait until early next week (Tuesday-ish) and followup with both. I would essentially ask them if there's anything they need from your end…inquire as to whether you should apply via x portal. Essentially, you're following up with an “excuse” in asking if you should apply via x route.

Make sense?

Hey there,

Its summer season, so many people are on vacation across all firms.

Wait another week, then call the recruiter in question.

Cheers,

Florian

Hello,

I would recommend politely following up with both recruiters, and ask them whether there is anything else you need to do on your end to apply. You could put the senior partner in CC, though that is probably not necessary.

Give it a couple of days and then write a polite follow up email asking for time with the Canadian recruiter to discuss your application. Remember it is August and many people travel this month.

I would give it another week and if no response, then a gentle follow up.
