Hi all

Mckinsey sent me an email a month ago and said I'd get to know the outcome of my application by 29th October 2021. I reached out yesterday and they asked what roles I applied to and they haven't responded yet. What does this mean? Should I wait or just reach out again. Is recruitment for Mckinsey done by individual offices or globally?

If it's the London office (I'm guessing by the date you specified) then all full-time interview invites were already sent out and the form for taking interview slots is fully booked.

I think other MBBs and Tier 2 firms are still to send out their first-round invites though!

Hi there,

1) I reached out yesterday and they asked what roles I applied to and they haven't responded yet. What does this mean? Should I wait or just reach out again.

They want to identify your application. I would wait at least 1 week from the first email, then call the office if you have not heard back.

2) Is recruitment for Mckinsey done by individual offices or globally?

Your application will be processed by the office you applied to.

Best,

Francesco

I had recieved the same email about the 29th and recieved no update on the date. I emailed on the weekend and got an automatic reply saying that if you have applied for the summer internship or business analyst roles, we will now hear back on the 3rd.

Hi there,

It means they're busy!

Wait another week before reaching out. Before you send them a second email try to call to see if you can get someone on the line.

Good luck!

Just HR things.

Be patient with them.

They handle too many applications at once and are under pressure. 29th Oct might get delayed by a couple of weeks, no pressure. No response means no response. Whatever the outcome, they will let you know. If they are asking for the role you've applied - do tell them. It might be that a different HR is handling your file right now.

Hey there,

It does not mean much honestly. Unfortunately, since COVID hit, McK recruiting became a bit less structured and organized and there are many such cases across offices.

Wait for a couple of days and if nothing has been communicated, call them.

McKinsey recruiting is done locally for most offices and regionally for others (e.g., Middle East), never globally.

Cheers,

Florian

HR being HR… Have a bit of patience…

Process is managed locally  - but they are globally connected.
