Mastercard Consulting

Dear Community,

I am currently at MBB and will have interview tomorrow at Mastercard. I am thinking of these questions

1. "Why matstercard Consulting?"-→ What are the advantage that Mastercard has compared to other consulting firm?

2. “ Why move from MBB to Mastercard”?

Thank you

Hi!

These questions are ok, but not great (sorry for the honesty here).

The main thing is that they are too general and they also put too much emphasis on them having to convince you rather than the other way around (some interviewers don't like this).

I'd recommend instead that you try to formulate some questions that spring specifically from the interviewer's background (which they will certainly provide at the start of the chat). This will set you up for a more personal discussion.

In general, aim to ask questions that steer the discussion in a positive direction and avoid anything that could appear ‘challenging’.

Good luck!
Cristian

Hi,

I always approach that in 3 steps :

1. "Why matstercard Consulting?"-→ What are the advantage that Mastercard has compared to other consulting firm?

Try to be honest, no ? if you want to move there it means that there are some advantages. You could mention your passion for finance, your objective to do more actionnable things, etc. And if you need a better work life balance, say it.

2. “ Why move from MBB to Mastercard”?

You can say that you want to orientate your career in a more specific way (finance, etc.).

The most important is to be honest and structured.

Cheers

Hi there,

First of all, all the best for the interview(s) tomorrow!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

While these questions are critical, remember that the interview will likely cover a broader range of questions. Therefore, I would highly advise you to prepare for a variety of questions, not just these two.

Best,

Hagen

Hi,

1. Read up on the areas Mastercard specialises in and does best. Ideally with some examples. Also can mention the team.

2. Better work-life balance, willingness to specialise in a single area rather than being a generalist.

Good luck!
Nick
