Hello,

I had applied for one of the events at MBB and got the email yesterday that I have been selected for that event and they have shared the zoom link with me with some exercise to do.

Also, I had applied for the consulting position with this firm last month via referral and they told me they will get back to me last week but they did not. I followed up last Friday but have not heard back from them yet and yesterday I got this invitation for this event.

Does this mean that I might have a chance to get selected for the interview round as well because to get selected for the event you need to submit your CV.

Hey there,

These are two mutually exclusive things and the HR person responsible for the event is likely a different one that is responsible for the interview invitation.

In general, it is easier to receive an invitation for an event than it is to be invited for the interviews.

That being said, I would not worry too much about the interview invitation at this stage. Sometimes it can take a bit longer and since you got a referral and have been invited to the event I'd say the outlook is positive.

Cheers,

Florian

Hello!

They are not related most likely -probably the HR coordinator of each of them is different, unless it´s a small office-, but both are ways in.

I would kindly keep insisting, while doing your best in the event, since those are made as recruiting happenings. That is precisely the way I first heard about McKinsey and how I got in!

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara

Hi there,

I agree with Florian.

While the event isn't bad news, this is not any indication that you're being "groomed for the interview invite" so to speak. Your application itself is seperate to this event invitation.

That said, events are good signs and can eventually lead to invitations. They are not, however, a direct invitation to interview.
