I'm in a tough spot right now. Had 2 offers (oil and pharma) , declined pharma. But then regreted it and asked for it back.

They gave it back to me and manager had me to promise him that i'll join them this time and he said i should join them 2 weeks, no negotiation allowed. I agreed on his terms.

But yesteday i've received offer from top consulting firm with higher pay and i always wanted to work for that company and in consulting.

Should i here keep my word and work for pharma now and then after 2 years apply for consulting firm again? or  should i decline them twice

If you would prefer the consulting offer then I advise you to accept it.

The coaches are making this into a far bigger deal than it actually is - it is not surpising that they would put so much emphasis on 'correct recruitment protocol', given this is what they dedicate ALL their time to (judging by the volume of Q&A answers Adi and Ian give….)

I do love my job and I do love being able to help people via the Q&A - sorry for that :) (Q&A takes me about 30 minutes a day...BCG taught me to work quickly!) I do still stand by what I said - I understand your instincts but I will repeat that this is a very bad way to treat an individiual manager/boss who took a gamble on him and is not a good precendent for one's professional career (Note: there is a clear disctiction between his situation and one where you receive a 2nd amazing offer after accepting a 1st offer from a massive conglomerate via HR).

Hi Arty,

This is not cool at all on your part. You cant be this fickle am sorry.

Be professional, honest and credible here. Do the right thing and don't sway your commitment (and word) so easily. At the end of it, its your decision so must face the good & bad consequences.

Arty,

You're killing me.

Don't do this to people or you're going to end up with no offers and a horrible reputation that you can't recover from.

Start becoming a person of your word and commit to things when you say them. You should not screw over this person who has trusted you and brought you back in.

Decide what you want, stick with it, and live with your choices in life!

This is ridiculous. (Sorry for the bluntness)

Gawd!

Pick what you desire the most Arty!

If you feel consulting is the better offer from a long-term - then be brave in rejecting the older offer twice. No need to sabotage your career on guilt.

However, try to be more decisive in your life decisions in the future.
