How much lower should I expect the salary of a C&I Analyst to be compared to a Business Analyst?

Hello,

I recently received an informal offer for the C&I Analyst position at McKinsey but haven't been informed about the compensation details yet. Could you share how much lower I should expect the salary to be compared to a Business Analyst role?

I appreciate any insights!

Thank you.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the offer from McKinsey!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, as almost all coaches are ex-consultants, you are unlikely to get an up-to-date perspective on your compensation, which also depends on the country you applied to.
  • Moreover, I would highly advise you to just wait for the results so that you have the actual numbers in front of you.
  • Lastly, please keep in mind that there were (hopefully) reasons other than compensation that led you to apply, which should also be taken into consideration when making a decision about accepting or declining the offer.

Hi,

The salary difference between a Consultant & Implementation Analyst and a Business Analyst at McKinsey can vary based on location, experience and individual performance. Generally speaking, the difference is around 30%-40%, and can go up to 60%.

Let me know if you have further questions.

Hey there,

This really varies by region. I've seen it differ from 20-40% lower for C&I Analysts.

I also know that the salary ranges were bring reviewed across the board, so it's hard to say what you should expect.

All the best

Hey!

The salary for a C&I (Commercial & Industrial) Analyst at McKinsey is typically lower than that of a Business Analyst, but the difference can vary depending on location, specific office, and the candidate's experience. Generally, C&I Analysts are newer roles, often focusing on specific industries, so they might have a slightly lower base salary compared to Business Analysts, who are expected to work across a broader range of cases. Expect a difference of around 10-15% lower, but the exact figure can vary. It’s always best to wait for the formal offer to get the specifics.
