BCG London Office Associate Consultant Pre-Screening Tests

Hi there,

I am applying to the BCG London office for the associate consultant role. I have been getting mixed answers on what type of pre-screening tests I will be required to take whether that is the casey chatbot, the potential test, and the one-way interview test.

If someone could provide clarity to this question, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi there!

First of all, you could ask them to clarify what kind of test they are going to give you, in order to plan your preparation. As Cristian was saying, this may change from office to office so it is better to ask directly to them.

In case you are not going to be able to get this information, know that normally MBB test have a mix of different questions, which may include:

  • Situational Judgement Test (SJT)
  • Numerical Reasoning
  • Verbal Reasoning
  • Logical Reasoning
  • Personality Questionnaire

The objective is to evaluate your skills while putting you under pressure with time management. Hence, you should not underestimate it. You can find abundant material online that you can use to practice and become more comfortable with the type of questions. Here's some useful links with free tests:

Best of luck with your preparation,
Francesca

Hi there!

Always take the info from the source i.e., the recruiter / HR.

The type of test differs by office / country, so whatever we say here won't be with 100% certainty.

Still, it's worth knowing that even though the format of these tests differs slightly from one to the other, they are all testing for the same thing - basically, the fundamentals you need in order to be worth interviewing you:

  • problem structuring
  • analytical mindset
  • prioritisation
  • fast maths
  • etc.

I would recommend that you try out GMAT tests and also former McKinsey PST tests (the test they were using before introducing the game). I can share a few examples of the latter if helpful.

Best,
Cristian
