BCG HR Call After Final Round - What to Expect?

I just finished my second-round interviews with BCG, and the recruiter scheduled an HR call with me in about a week. Earlier in the process, this same recruiter mentioned that if I passed both rounds, they would set up a final HR call.

For those who’ve been through this, what should I expect? Does this usually mean an offer is coming, or could it still be another step in the interview process?

Would love to hear from anyone who’s been in a similar situation!

Hello!

In the vast majority of cases, when a recruiter says they’ll set up an HR call after final rounds if you pass, and that call gets scheduled—it’s a very positive sign. Rarely, the HR call might be used to clarify something administrative or cultural (e.g. work authorization, timeline, preferences) or deliver a soft rejection, but given the delay before the HR call and how they framed it earlier, this strongly suggests they’re lining up logistics for an offer.

If the recruiter said that if you passed both rounds they would set up a final HR call, then my guess is that if they setup a final HR call that means you passed both rounds...

If the recruiter hadn't said that, my gut feeling would be the same, if they didn't take long after the interview to schedule it is likely that the call is to give you good news. Usually they don't schedule to give bad news... bad news is a 3 minute conversation. Whereas hiring someone may be a 15-20 minute conversation.

Hey there 😊

That HR call usually means good news is coming your way! 🎉 At BCG, when they say there's an HR call after final rounds—and especially if they already mentioned it earlier as the next step if you pass—it’s very often the offer call or a pre-offer check-in to confirm a few final details (like preferences, timelines, admin stuff, etc.).

That said, nothing is 100% final until you hear it officially, so try to stay cautiously optimistic until then. But the signs so far are definitely positive 🙌

Fingers crossed for great news—keep me posted if you'd like help negotiating your offer or navigating next steps!

Best,
Alessa 🌷

Hi there,

That sounds very good. They would not set up a call so much in advance just to discuss a rejection...

Fingers crossed for a good outcome!

Cheers,

Hi there,

Congratulations on the progress so far! Regarding your question:

Q: For those who’ve been through this, what should I expect? Does this usually mean an offer is coming, or could it still be another step in the interview process?

In this case, there are usually two options:

  1. The call is a final HR interview (normally based on fit questions only)
  2. The call is to clarify admin points before formally extending an offer

Given they stated the call would take place if you passed both rounds, in theory the process should already be completed and I would expect it to be option #2.

It is totally fine to ask HR what will be discussed in the call if you want.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hi there,

I think that means you've passed the 2 rounds of interviews. Congratulations!

As for the HR call, most likely it is more about administration / logistics, i.e., office choice, work permit, flexible in starting time, etc.

All the best with the last step!

Best,

Emily

Hi!

Congrats on making it this far!

Like others have said, this HR call is very likely a positive sign. But I have a few more points to add:

Even if the offer is more or less decided, still treat this call like it still matters. Why?

  • HR may still be assessing soft signals: communication, professionalism.
  • They might be gauging cultural alignment before finalizing paperwork.
  • You can leave a positive final impression and potentially influence which office, team, or start date you're offered.

So be clear about your motivations for joining.

and prepare your own questions!

They’ll usually ask, “Do you have any questions for me?” Here are some good ones:

  • "What should I expect in terms of onboarding or training if I get the offer?"
  • "How soon can I expect to receive formal documentation?"
  • "What’s the usual timeline from this conversation to official start prep?"

Even if this turns out not to be an offer (which is rare based on your description), use it as a chance to get feedback and express continued interest

Good luck!

I had a final round interview for a manager role at a tier 2 company. HR said feedback was positive but they’d assess other candidates too. It’s been 10 days with no update. Is this normal or should I take it as a silent rejection and move on?
