Hello PrepLounge Community,

I have had a final round interview with BCG Dubai office two weeks ago, and still has no news about the outcome.

Is it normal? Does it mean a silent rejection already or could I still have a little hope.

Thanks a lot in advance to your experience sharing with BCG Middle East office, cheers!

Update: Big thanks to everyone answered to my previous questions. I was in fact invited to a third round interview after over 2 weeks waiting before the final decision. I got the offer in the end. Thanks again, cheers.

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on conducting all interview rounds with BCG!

I think this is an interesting question that may be relevant for many people. I would be happy to share my thoughts on it:

  • First of all, please keep in mind that the process to schedule and conduct the debriefing call can take some time, so it is normal not to receive an immediate response. The length of this process depends on various factors, including the number of candidates being considered on that specific day, the schedules of the interviewers and recruiter, and the complexity of the approval process.
  • Moreover, I would assume BCG in the Middle East not be so unprofessional as to simply not reply and assume you will take it as a rejection in the end. However, I would advise you to reach out to the recruiter and politely inquire about the status of your application since two weeks is still a rather long time.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to address your specific situation, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hi there,

Q: I had a final round interview with BCG Dubai office two weeks ago, and still have no news about the outcome. Is it normal?

Most candidates hear back within a week after a final. It doesn’t mean this is going to be a rejection though.

I would recommend to reach out to HR to ask for feedback, after 2 weeks that’s totally fine.

Best,

Francesco

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear about the wait - not fun!

Until you hear back, you are neither accepted nor rejectred. Unfortunately this can take up to and even beyond a month.

Sit tight and make sure you're applying to other roles in the meantime.

Summary: Yes, you still have hope. But, remember the saying: hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

Hi,

congrats on having been invited to second round.

Do not take no answer as a negative answer. If you do not have any deadline pressure for accepting other offers, I would advise to be patient. You can always reach out to your recruiter and they will be able to give you a status update.

Cheers,

Andreas

Only a rejection is a rejection. They have not ‘silently’ rejected you, after final rounds it is almost always the case that they call or email with a rejection.

2 weeks is a long time and usually long wait times are not the best that is true, but do not lose hope - instead talk to HR and see what is going on.

Hi,

First of all, congratulations for reaching the final round. Waiting 2 weeks is not abnormal, usually at the last round you talk with partners, then they have to débrief with HR… Looking at the agendas of these busy people, it can take 2 weeks or more.

For example 2 days ago one of my coaches got an offer from McKinsey after 2,5 weeks.

Cheers,

Alexandre

No answer doesn't mean anything except that you haven't received an answer yet. The office may be waiting to interview other candidates and for whatever reason those interviews may have been delayed, they may just be waiting to get all the interviewers together which, for whatever reason, is taking a while.

I'd recommend politely emailing the recruiting team to ask when you might hear, but don't silence as rejection.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about the long wait. This must be excruciating. I also waited for a week to hear back and it was rather painful.

Two weeks sounds very long, however. I suggest you reach out to the recruiter to clarify the status of your application. Perhaps there was some issue with the interviewers managing to connect and discuss your performance. It never happens that they reject you without even giving you a call.

Stay strong :)

Best,
Cristian
