BCG 1st Round virtual Interview London Office

Anyone did their 1st round BCG interview already? I just want to know how the interviewer present the data, is it sending it through as a file or by screen sharing? I find it hard to not have the data presented all in one screen as often insights are pulled by looking different data. Could you let me know your experience doing it virtually?

Shared the screen a slide per exhibit. I guess you could always ask them to go back if you miss something — Anonymous B on Nov 11, 2020

Thank you for the insights. How did you interview go? Did you find it harder doing it virtually? — Anonymous A on Nov 11, 2020

Hi there,

In virtual interviews they usually share the screen as they cannot send you the case material.

Hey there!
The interviewer will share a screen with you in the virtual interview. You can ask to send all the data if you need to.
So keep calm and good luck!

Hi there,

In almost all virtual case interviews, the interviewer will share their screen.

Hard, I know, but at least it's a level playing field (i.e. everyone has to read them that way)!

Additional Tips for Virtual Interviews

1) Make sure you have a good + working headset

2) Make sure your camera works

3) Setup a space without distracting items/activity behind you

4) Make sure you have a good internet connection AND be prepared to hotspot with your phone

5) Test the videoconferencing platform/tool a day before (to make sure it's installed, compatible, etc.)

6) Login 10 minutes before to prevent any issues

Good luck!

McKinsey Digital / BCG Platinion: Oil & Gas Upstream Technology

Solved 3.6k times
McKinsey Digital / BCG Platinion: Oil & Gas Upstream Technology [PLEASE NOTE: This is a technically difficult case and should only be completed by those coming in as a Technology specialist, i.e. recruiting for McKinsey Digital, BCG Platinion, etc.] Our client is a multinational oil and gas company. While they are vertically integrated and have upstream, midstream, and downstream divisions, they have recently been experiencing competitivity issues in the upstream gas division, which brings in $1B in profits annually. Our client’s upstream division has offices in Australia and Indonesia. Their work is highly dependent on their IT systems, as they have to constantly monitor wells and pipes (pressure, hydrocarbon count, fluid makeup, etc.) The upstream division has two large legacies of IT systems that are primarily used for downstream operations but have been modified for upstream purposes. These systems are managed by a central team in the US which is responsible for all IT issues across the business. They triage issues/enhancements and then manage development teams in India and Finland who complete the work.
