Ban Period

Hello community,

Do you know if there is any chance to “reduce” the ban period from 12- month to 6-months? (e.g perhaps via a referral)

Thanks for letting me know

Hi there,

Q: Do you know if there is any chance to “reduce” the ban period from 12- month to 6-months?

I know cases when this happened, specifically in two situations:

  1. The person applied to a different office via referral
  2. The interviewers mentioned that the performance in the final was very close to a pass and explicitly indicated that the candidate could apply again after 6 months

For option #1, I would still recommend informing the person referring you about the previous rejection for transparency, then let them talk to HR to see if there is any option for an earlier application. If that's not the case, you can wait until the end of the ban period.

Good luck!

Francesco

Hello Francesco, thanks for the reply! What about if the rejection comes after the Solve game and HR explicitly says that the rejection was mainly due to the Solve performance and not because of the CV?

Hi there, in this case, given the McKinsey Solve game score lasts for 12 months and applies to all offices, I am afraid you will have to wait for 12 months. In the meantime, I would recommend applying to other companies. Good luck!

No, there really isn‘t. Just be patient, improve your CV, and try again after the recommended ban period.

Hi there,

The question is a bit too broad.

It depends on many circumstances:

  • Firm
  • Country
  • Office
  • Current demand
  • Resume improvements
  • Referrals

I have seen it happen but its generally rare.

Cheers,

Florian
