Advice while writing Consulting Experience on Resume

Hi,

I have a question with regard to the structure of writing bullet points of Consulting experience on my Resume.

Do you only write the complete case/project?

Or would it make sense to also include specific sub-bullet points about the things you did from your workstream?

For example,

The Project is a Revenue Growth Management Case

And maybe you did some specific analysis with respect to your workstream that yielded a crucial result contributing towards the actual project.

Or are those things you simply mention during an interview?

Hmmmm. Neither.

You need to have a clear, concise sentence that articulates your role/responsibilities/actions and the value add.

To give you an idea, one example from my killer resume template is:

“Optimized, streamlined, and enhanced processes for reporting of student job search status to the Dean of Students by leveraging Macros and excel techniques; reduced weekly reporting time from 3 hours to 10 minutes”

Concise 2-3 sentence bullet point that highlights your activities and outcome (tangible or intangible).

Feel free to post your CV here and coaches can have a quick look to comment. Otherwise most coaches offer detailed CV reviews, so book a session with a coach of your choice.

Hi!

The bullet points should reflect a relevant experience where you had a measurable impact. Thus, you might have 3 or 0 bullet points for a given project.

When writing about your experience remember the 3 main buckets of McKinsey's PEI: entrepreneurial drive, inclusive leadership, personal impact.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Anto

As a general rule, you should write one bullet point per project, but please note that you don't focus the content on the project. You focus on your responsibilities / key actions and results, but of course you should briefly mention the context.

You should write about your experience in a manner that clearly articulates your ‘impact’.

Typically the best way to write the sentence is using the XYZ rule as popularised by Google. It goes as the following:

Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y], by doing [Z].

Hello!

There are different styles that work.
The best thing is to go on LinkedIn and see different profiles form consultants who have detailed their experience there.

Hope it helps!

Cheers,

Clara
