• Carried out a strategic study project for a leading Asian food delivery company, aiming to investigate the risk of the strategy of hiring temporary gig workers through temporary work agencies to cushion the surge in demand by avoiding unused capacity. Utilizing an exclusive dataset provided by the company and employing data-driven and econometrics approaches, including the Difference-In-Differences (DID) method, the spillover effects of a potential shortage of temporary workers on the company's regular gig workers and the implications on the company were examined. • The results indicated the shortage can decrease regular gig workers' productivity and income by 7% and 6%, respectively; while increasing the late deliveries and canceled orders by 27% and 11%, respectively, which rendered it a risky strategy as it harms the company's reputation, shrinks its market share, and diminishes its revenue.
