Navneet was an amazing coach. 1. Dedication to his students / Despite the fact that I was in Seoul and he was abroad, he stayed highly focused on the sessions, almost as if he were right next to me. Even with the tight schedule of both PEI and case preparations, he went overtime to give me his full attention. 2. Logical capabilities / He helped surface and address areas where I internally felt I might have made mistakes. 1) He pinpointed the structural elements I was missing, which made my answers more comprehensive and convincing. 2) He taught me the manner of clarifying and summarizing, guiding me on the right timing to execute these effectively. This helped me improve quickly. 3) For the PEI, we created a story around inclusive leadership. Since it was my first time presenting this case to someone, I was unsure if it was the right fit, but he helped me identify strong points and restructure the content effectively. Navneet is a phenomenal coach! For context, I am a STEM PhD student at the very beginning of my case interview preparation for this coming application cycle targeting MBB firms for generalist consulting roles. My goal in this meeting was to identify my weaknesses so I may be able to address them in future peer-to-peer practice sessions. Navneet's welcoming personality allowed me to feel ease, and I was able to work through the case with out being hindered by nerves. His critiques were thorough, and he identified areas for improvement that I would have not seen on my own. When providing his insights, he made sure to discern when a particular strength in a interviewee-led case may become a hinderance in a interviewer-led case, which is definitely essential to hear as I anticipate preparing for both formats. Beyond performance critiques, I feel like I also learned a lot just through my interactions with Navneet outside of the case. The way he gave feedback was with tremendous enthusiasm and insight. Whether we were focusing on my strengths or weaknesses, I could tell everything he said was driven by a passion for passing on his knowledge and it made me far more receptive to everything he said. As a scientist, my interactions with my peers are often very blunt and you tend to care far more about the content of what you are saying rather than how you are saying it. Going forward, I will certainly try to apply the traits Navneet displayed in our session to catalyze my transition from a research lab to a client-facing environment. In our session I obtained over two pages of notes to improve my performance that will undoubtedly drive forward my preparations.
