Wrong GPA calculation

My undergrade GPA calculation is not 4.0 scale and the university do not provide the total cumulative GPA as number.

I did the calculation myself, but what happen if my calculation was wrong and the firm find it after I get the offer?

I used same GPA number that I used in grad school application

Hi there,

Happens all the time. In my case, I did the same with conversion of German grade to GPA when applying to McKinsey.

It was no issue at all in securing the offer and during the background check, McKinsey could verify these details themselves. As long as the number they get to is in the right ballpark, all is good!

Hope this helps a bit. Best of luck!

Hi there,

State your “true” grade (i.e. what your country does), then, in brackets put “x GPA equivalent”.

Please don't do the calculation yourself. Google an online “calculator” that tells you the conversion.

I would never do any calculations on your own.  I would just include the actual GPA and then put a reference (e.g., top 10% of class).

Hi there,

agree with the other coaches, as long as you put the actual GPA and position as “equivalent” to a certain grade, should not be an issue.

Feel free to send across and I'll take a look.

Cheers, Andi

Hi there,

To begin with, there might be nothing to worry about in the first place. Firms don't actually spend their time and money tracing down every thing you wrote in your CV because they rather spend their resources otherwise. If they do follow-up and ask about your GPA you can suggest how you calculated it and let them judge whether it's correct or not - but I really really doubt you'll get there.

Hello!

For other occasions, i would advice you not to do the calcultions yourself, but put the grade (and scale) as your school calculates it.

Cheers,

Clara
