Which MBB offices should I target?

Dear all,

I am an MBA from the best b-school in India, have worked with Monitor Deloitte USI practice (serving US clients through offshore model) for 3 years post MBA. Also have 4 years of pre-MBA ecperience in O&G industry. Am now looking for a direct client facing role, and global exposure. Hence thinking about applying to MBBs in English speaking countries in next few months. Questions for you -

1. How would MBBs perceive my work-ex? Do I stand a real chance?

2. What reasons to relocate (and apply to a different country) are treated as legit reasons? Can I say I'm looking for global exposure?

3. What countries could I target for my application? I see openings in Brussels, but they mention French / Dutch as additional language requirement. London, also shows openings, but I hear UK firms are only rarely willing to sponsor visas.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

You could certainly stand a chance, but if i were you i would expand my application beyond MBB, and try other top consulting companies as well.

If you have a personal reason (family or friends may live there), then that would be a strong reason. Global exposure alone may not be enough, you may want to specify a little more (maybe some sectors e.g. oil and gas are more in demand in your preferred office).

Non English speaking offices typically require a local language. You're correct about the UK, due to tier 2 visa sponsorship, it is harder to be invited for an interview. Other counties such as UAE or Canada could be more viable options.

Best,

Hi,

1) Yep, why not?

2) You should have a local work permit and know the language. Otherwise, you should apply to the local office, work for some time and then relocate

3) It's really hard to get visa sponsorship if you are not applying directly post-MBA in the corresponding region. I would apply locally

Best!
