Consulting Consulting

Where should I relocate? Please advise

I’m considering relocating within Europe and would like to understand where the consulting opportunities and compensation are strongest but also there are roles open. I’m currently comparing Switzerland and Monaco, but I’m also open to other EU countries if they offer better prospects (both in terms of career growth and salary).

For experienced hires in consulting (Manager), which European locations would you recommend focusing on?

Any insights are much appreciated!

Hi,

To directly address Switzerland vs. Monaco: Switzerland > Monaco. Monaco essentially doesn’t have a real consulting market.

Across Europe, in terms of salary and growth: Northern Europe generally beats Southern Europe. The standout locations are Switzerland, London, and the Nordics. If you speak the local language, Germany and France can also be very strong options.

Best,
Lukas

Great response. Just wanted to add that within the Nordics, Denmark has the best compensation to living expenses ratio. Second would be Norway, then the rest.

Hi there,

Switzerland is by far the stronger choice: largest consulting market in Europe outside of Germany/UK, high demand for experienced hires, and the best compensation levels. Monaco has very limited consulting presence, so career growth options are slim. If you’re open beyond those two, Germany, UK, and the Nordics are also strong hubs, but Switzerland tops the list for both pay and opportunity.

best, Alessa :)

Other coaches forgot to mention The Netherlands, which has a strong consulting market, as it has a lot of MNC headquarters + has an attractive tax system for expats.
