What are the best resources to prepare for Bain online assessment (the one between CV and interview)? Has anyone done it recently could share a bit experience here?

Hi there,

First of all, congratulations on the (presumed) invitation from Bain!

I would be happy to share my thoughts on your question:

  • First of all, depending on the region, you will either face the Bain Sova or the Bain TestGorilla pre-interview assessment. Can you share which region you applied to and/or which pre-interview assessment you'll have to take?
  • Moreover, for the Bain Sova pre-interview assessment, its practice test seems to have exactly the same format as the Bain Sova pre-interview assessment itself, so I would highly advise you to look for those exact exercises. For example, SHL offers many practice tests, some of which appear to have the exact same format.
  • Lastly, the Bain TestGorilla pre-interview assessment seems to be a combination of critical thinking, numerical reasoning, and data exercises.

You can find more on this topic here: How to succeed in the final interview round.

If you would like a more detailed discussion on how to best prepare for your upcoming Bain pre-interview assessment and/or interviews, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

Best,

Hagen

Hey there :)

Bain’s online assessment is usually the SOVA test (logic, numerical, verbal, situational judgment) or the Pymetrics-style games depending on the region. The content is not case-based like BCG’s chatbot, but more about problem-solving speed and consistency. The best prep is: practice GMAT-style quantitative and logical reasoning questions (platforms like GMAT Club or SHL practice tests), refresh quick mental math, and look at some free situational judgment test samples to get a feel. For the games, you don’t really “prepare” but make sure you’re consistent and focused.

Overall, no hidden case library is needed here ...practicing under time pressure with numerical/logical test platforms is the most effective.

best, Alessa :)

Hi there,

Bain’s online assessment (the one you do before interviews) is usually a gamified test designed by Pymetrics or a similar provider. It evaluates problem-solving, logical reasoning, memory, and risk-taking rather than consulting knowledge. You can’t really “study” in the traditional sense, but you can prepare by:

  • Practicing with free Pymetrics or similar gamified test demos online to get comfortable with the format.
  • Doing quick mental math and logic puzzle drills (speed and accuracy matter).
  • Playing strategy or memory-based brain games (helps with reaction time and pattern recognition).
  • Taking it in a calm environment with stable internet and no distractions — mindset and focus are key.

The main thing is to be consistent and natural in your responses, since Bain looks for traits aligned with consulting work styles rather than a perfect score.

Best,

Evelina
